Flatlands Dance Film Festival

Knight Auditorium at the Spurlock MuseumEach fall, we present a variety of films and shorts dedicated to dance performance, dance for camera, influential artists in the field, and the social impact of dance across the world. The Flatlands Dance Film Festival is also host to a film competition for aspiring dance filmmakers.

We believe our festival exemplifies our commitment to promoting and expanding the role of dance in our community. As we strive to present stellar performances on our stages, we recognize the vast potential for the choreographic to infuse the cinematic.

In honor of the "Tap in Illinois" season presented by Dance at Illinois, Lyric Theatre, and Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, FDFF is happy to announce that we will be screening Mark Wilkinson's American Tap!

American Tap

"At a time when America is struggling with its cultural idenity—when anti-immigrant and nativist sentiment boils over into outright racism and xenophobia—we are compelled to look inward to unpack what it means to be American."

—Mark Wilkinson, Director
