Children's Dance

Creative Dance for ChildrenWelcome to Dance at Illinois' Children's Dance Program!

Children's Dance has been a long-time treasured offering to our community by Dance at Illinois. Originally led by Kate Kuper, these Saturday classes are for children who are yearning to move with joy and dance their hearts out! Your children will dance in a safe and inspiring classroom environment led this year by the amazing Mauriah Kraker, a member of our graduate program and an experienced dance professional. Dance at Illinois dance majors will assist Ms. Kraker, bringing their passion and dance expertise to the classroom.

Mauriah Kraker comes from a family of teachers. She grew up knowing the classroom as a place of joy and excitement, a laboratory for forging into the unknown, a space centered around building community. It is this she enacts in her own teaching. She has taught creative movement in the public schools in the Midwest, implemented creative movement curriculums in Taiwan and Thailand, and has taught in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Dance and Theatre program. She is currently at the University of Illinois pursuing her MFA in Choreography and Performance.

Julianna loves your classes and has learned so much. She dances ALL the time. Doesn't ever want to go to ballet and she wants your class every morning. THANK YOU!
