Position:
Assistant to the Head, DEPARTMENT OF DANCE

Rank, Salary:
100%-time, academic professional. Proposed start date as soon as possible after the closing date. Twelve-month appointment. Salary commensurate with experience.

Duties:
Coordinates administrative support and manages issues related to financial and human resources including all processes of hiring, accounting and finances, timetable and student admissions. Assists Head with annual budget report preparations, correspondence, and scheduling. Monitors student fees, production accounts and research grants providing timely statements of accounts to the Head and program chairs. Coordinates required reports, offering knowledgeable assistance and advice related to personnel issues, international issues and budgetary matters. Works closely with faculty and MFA and BFA program chairs regarding educational and international programs.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree. Current affiliation with the University of Illinois. Knowledge and experience with managing finances and human resources. Excellent skills in written and verbal communications. Excellent planning, organizational and management skills. Familiarity with University resources and policies and knowledge of campus and university structure. Preferred: Bachelors in Business Administration or related field, knowledge of Banner, Business Objects, HRFE, and Hire Touch, working knowledge of small university units, familiarity with the creative arts, particularly dance.

Department:
The Department of Dance comprises 10 full-time faculty members and 2 adjunct faculty members with active BFA and MFA programs.
